ASRM Releases Fact Sheet on Biological Sex Differentiation
February 5, 2025
For immediate release
Washington, DC – The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the nation’s leading organization on reproductive medicine, has released a new addition to its “Just the Facts” series focusing on clarifying the concept of biological sex. The paper emphasizes that the traditional binary view of sex is not always accurate, highlighting the complexity of human biology.
According to ASRM, oversimplifying the understanding of sex disregards scientific evidence and fails to acknowledge the intricate nature of human biology. Sean Tipton, ASRM’s Chief Advocacy and Policy Officer, expressed concern over the lack of basic biological knowledge among some policymakers.
“ASRM aims to educate and bridge this gap by providing insights into human biology and the science of reproduction,” Tipton said.
ASRM, known for its role as an educational entity, is committed to supporting policymakers in gaining a deeper comprehension of human biology, particularly as they craft related policies. ASRM’s expert members stand ready to assist those interested in enhancing their understanding of the very fundamental biological concepts they seek to regulate.
